Building Skill, Character and Community Through Football and Cheerleading
Wayland Weston Youth Football & Cheer (WWYF) is built on a strong foundation - a purpose and set of values that members are passionate about, a clear appreciation of the unique contribution we provide to our kids and broader community, and a good understanding and dedication to nurturing what drives our resource engine.
Starting with evening practices in early August and running through eight Sunday games in September and October on the Wayland High School turf field and at opponents stadiums in eastern Massachusetts, WWYF attracts kids in grades 2 - 8 and their parents who love the skill, character and community building designed into the program.
American Youth Football, Inc., established in 1996, is a 501c (3) non-profit international youth football organization established to promote the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of American football. Rules and regulations are established to ensure that players play in an atmosphere of safety with a competitive balance between teams. American Youth Football is on a mission to GIVE BACK to the community.
Parents and other volunteers in Wayland and Weston run our program, are trained to coach our teams, announce games, choreograph cheers, take game films, hold the chains and do other activities that keep them close to the action and their kids. An active boosters program makes the environment complete with tailgate parties, concessions, an annual adult social fundraiser and end of season awards banquet.
There are many opportunities to volunteer your time and donate your resources to WWYF. Browse this site, click through on the underlined links above or contact a member of WWYF's leadership team to learn more.
WWYF - Football Preseason Practice Paperwork Requriements
Hi WWYF Family,
Tis is one of a few emails you'll be getting in the next 24 hrs. I didn't want to combine them all in one email as they are all equally important to follow.
Football pre-season practice begins on Monday, August 4th at 5:30. Your child will not be allowed to practice with the WWYF team if the required paperwork is not completed and submitted by 5:30PM Monday. Eligible players will receive a signed eligibility form that he/she will had directly to their coach at the beginning of the practice. If the coach does not have the eligibility form, your child can not participate in the team practice. Please understand that WWYF must comply with the American Youth Football and Baystate League guidelines which mandates these requirements. No exceptions will be considered for the safety of our all our players.
You all should have downloaded all of the paper work after you registered, if not, we strongly advise that you review and complete the required documents immediately. You may need to request an additional health form from your pediatrician or have them sign a medical release form, which may take a few days for the medical office to process. If your child is new to WWYF or did not play in 2013, you will need to provide an original birth certificate and a copy for WWYF to maintain. Copies of the spring 2014 report card are required. We ask that you obtain these documents over the next week so your child is eligible to participate on Monday evening.
There are seven (7) documents that you will need to provide for each child in the WWYF program, the detailed list is found on http://wwfc.sportssignup.com/ (Instructions on how to log in and download and print are below this next paragraph)

Birth Certificate - If your child is new to WWYF or did not play in 2013, you must provide the original birth certificate and a copy. We will return the original to you immediately after processing the paperwork. If your child played in 2013, we have a copy of on file and you will not need to bring this on 8/4.
Spring 2014 Report Card - A copy of the last report card from the 2013-2104 school year.
Participation and ID Card - (on the website). This is a 2 page document that will need to be signed and initialed by the player and the parent on the 2nd page. This document includes the necessary waivers, player code of conduct, and equipment responsibility acknowledgments. Do not provide a picture or write in a jersey# or complete the 2nd or 3rd sections on the 1st page. The Board will complete these later in the month.

Document Submission Process and Eligibility Form Receipt:
We we will be collecting football player paperwork on Monday, 8/4 and Tuesday, 8/5 from 4:30 - 5:30 at WHS. Once your paperwork has been reviewed and received, your player will be given an Eligibility Form that he/she will deliver to the coach. If the coach does not receive an Eligibility Form for your child, they will not be allowed to participate in the program. Please do not send your child to the practice field while you turn in the paperwork, the player should be at the registration table to receive the Eligibility Form.
Log in with the email & password you used for registration
Once you are logged in, you will come to your welcome page and it will show your child's name and his/her Team name beside it "2014 Football (TBD Grade)"
Further to the right of the name and team name there is a link you can hover your mouse over that said "Print Forms". Click that link.
Then you will be taken to another webpage showing a list of documents you need. They are all pre-populated with your info from registration. If not, then you will have to enter the info manually.
The only five (5) documents you need to download & print from this list are listed belowthe other two documents you need (Report Card & Birth Certificate you should already have)

Medical Clearance - if you do not have a Health Form from a doctors physical dated and signed in 2014
Emergency Medical Treatment Consent
Waiver and Release of Liability
So there you have it. It should be pretty painless for you all. Please contact me if you have any questions. I need to remind you all again that we are unable, for liability reasons, to allow players to participate unless ALL of the paperwork is complete and cleared by our paperwork collectors. Coaches will not be allowed to have uncleared players at practice.
If our teams enter the playoffs, we will be required to submit additional documents mandated by he AYF league to participate in the Regional Playoffs and/or the Baystate Super Bowl. We will notify the teams that may qualify in early October, so parents have plenty of time to gather the necessary documents.
If you are starting on a later date, please make sure to stop by the equipment box or make other arrangements when your return, before your player heads to practice and we'll check your paperwork in. Please do not give your documents to the team coaches, it must be submitted to a WWYF Board member if you will not be able to attend the 8/4 and 8/5 registration to receive the Eligibility Form.
I trust you all have started to enjoy this nice weather and watching the snow melt away (yes!). Although many of you are gearing up for spring sports, now is the time we start registration for the 2014 WWYF Football & Cheer Season.
There are some changes and improvements this year that we like to let you all know:
New Registration Process:
We (along with all of the other Bay State Teams) are now registering our participants with Sports Signup. Sports Signup has uploaded all fo the documents for AYF and at the end of the registration process, all you will need to do is print them out and sign documents. We've taken much of the hand cramping paperwork and automated it.
Please read this message before getting started. When you are ready, click here:
At the end of the registration process you will be taken to a web page with links that look like this below:
Please click each player and you will get another screen for each player (below).
Please click each document, print, sign, and date, and save for a time when we will ask for them. We know it's a lot of paper but all necessary to compete.
You can always login and print these later. They will always be there for you to print.
Also. another thing is to make sure you register your second Adult (parent or guardian) so we can get email & phone number information for notification purposes. It will be a screen that comes up to ADD an Adult when you first make a Family Account.
Participant Safety Improvements:
It is our goal to make our program the gold standard in participant safety and we have been doing that for many years by always staying ahead of rest of the other sports in being proactive in the safety of our children. Last year one of our teams was featured on a CNN special as well as being the pilot program for Reebok with their Check Light apparatus.
We understand, that although in games, where we have a certified trainer, we have never had one in the past at practices. So this year, we will be adding a full time certified athletic trainer to our program and will be available for each and every practice, through the entire season. This is unprecedented in youth sports but we feel it is important to make sure that we can take all the necessary steps to ensure a fun & safe experience in our youth sport.
We did have to make an increase in our fees to cover the cost but we all feel it is well worth it.
New Towns Joining the Bay State League:
The popularity of AYF has been growing and this season the Bay State conference has picked up 2 new teams:
Concord Carlisle (Former Pop Warner Program and a fellow DCL Town)
Watertown/Belmont (Former Pop Warner program)
Interested in Coaching?
For those who have coached in the past or haven't coached before, please note that interest during some of the questions during the registration process for your children.
You can also contact Sean Chase
to inquire about coaching football, Marie Campbell/Patricia Berenson if interested in cheer positions
Once the coaching positions are set, we'll have those coaches log back into the registration page to register as coaches.
Pre Season Conditioning Camp (end of July):
We'll once again be holding our hugely successful summer pre season conditioning camp the last two weeks in July. This will be a separate fee of $40 and the camp will run Mon-Thu in the early evening. This helps the kids get ready for football practice as well as credits them conditioning practice time if they plan on missing some of the summer practices. More details to come.
Practice Start Date & First Game:
Aug 4th 2014 is our practice start date. More information is located on the "About us" Tab.
Our first game will be Labor Day Weekend but we will be trying to get a Home game and will most likely play the game on the Friday Night of Labor Day Weekend.
The full schedule will not be released until June but the regular season will be wrapped up by Sunday, October 19th. Playoffs to follow.
